My name is Salamasina (Sala), I am 37 years of age, and I am a Stockist for Monoi Tiki New Zealand (Skincare). I also do Social Media Marketing for a few small businesses. I would love to express my interest in supporting your learners on their journey with Reo Māori Kūki ‘Āirani.
I was born in Aotearoa and raised between Rarotonga, Aitutaki, Auckland, and Australia, with language woven into my upbringing from the very beginning. My mother, an Ariki of Te Vaka Takitumu, spoke to me only in our Reo, and her lifelong dedication to language preservation continues today through Te Vananga Are Tapere o Takitumu. Historic triple celebration honours Pa Marie Ariki and graduates - Cook Islands News
My father, a long-time member of Jehovah's Witnesses Rarotonga Maori congregation, taught me the value of humility, service, and sharing knowledge generously. He is also a master Agriculturalist and one of the Directors for TTV (To Tatou Vai)
Both family and faith have shaped my own learning path. I continue to strengthen my Reo through the Rarotonga Māori Christian meetings in Auckland, where I see how language can anchor identity, community, and confidence. With three teenagers of my own, I understand the rhythms of youth learning—how encouragement, patience, and relevance can spark real progress.
Professionally, I hold a Bachelor of Business in Marketing and have worked across hospitality, tourism, travel, and digital communication. Promoting others, uplifting voices, and sharing what is good has always felt natural to me.
It would be a privilege to pass on the language of our ancestors and help students connect with their cultural heartbeat. I would love the opportunity to support your programme and bring a warm, engaging, and culturally grounded approach to tutoring.
