Hi, my name is Meriel and I have been teaching since I was 20 years old. Through my career I’ve taught at Primary, Secondary and Tertiary level. My most recent teaching has been at the Refugee Education Centre in Mangere.  I have specialised in teaching English to new arrivals in New Zealand, a most interesting and rewarding experience for me.  Meeting and getting to know people from other countries and cultures is a privilege. I am sure I have learnt as much as I have taught. My family emigrated to New Zealand when I was a child and I think that long, five-week boat trip from the United Kingdom started my love of world Geography and travel.  As a teacher I aim to be patient, prepared, organised and interesting! When I’m not teaching my interests are my large extended family, my friends, walking, singing and travelling.
