Free for NZ Residents / Citizens / Partnership Visa of NZ Residents or citizens.

  • Students must be committed to attending 80% of classes
  • Students must be 16 years or older
  • An administration fee of $15 per course applies

Rutherford Community Education ESOL courses are recognized by The English for Migrants Programme (PELT) and WINZ. Full-time students may be eligible for a STUDENT VISA

 Level  Description
 Beginners  Learners have little or no exposure to English. Great difficulty understanding spoken or written  English.
 Elementary  Some Basic, often inaccurate communication used, in simple familiar situations only. Often requires assistance and frequently misunderstands.
 Pre-   intermediate  Coping with general meaning only in very familiar situations. Communication breaks down often
 Intermediate   Coping with general meaning in most situations, but still makes frequent mistakes. Use appropriate formality, both face-to-face and on the telephone. Inaccurate, but increasingly complex language used.
 Upper-   intermediate  Despite occasional errors communicate effectively and confidently in complex and new situations.
