Jim started welding in his Uncles workshop at the age of 11 and swore he would never take up welding as a Career. “Never say never”
His hobby in motor vehicles encouraged him to take up MIG welding and obtain his steel welding ticket so he could repair cars and bikes up to warranty standards…………from there, welding became both a passion and career for him. He completed a 5 year apprenticeship with Air New Zealand as an Aircraft Engineer and has worked in the industry for 25 years in various divisions. Always up for a challenge, Jim was then was given the opportunity to work in the boat building industry, which allowed him to advance his skills in Mig and Tig welding with different materials, such as alloy, steel and stainless. Jim is currently still boat building and has been for over 10 years now. His duties in the industry include fabrication, plate shaping, and marine engineering.
Jim gets great satisfaction taking material and drawings and welding them together to the finished product, or rebuild, modifying or developing new upgrades and he is looking forward to sharing his skills with you.
