Course Level

English Level 3 ( Pre-intermediate Level) and Level 4 (Intermediate Level).

Course Description

Learn Step-by-step how to draw, measure, and assemble a simple woodwork project. You will gain confidence in using different tools and machinery while growing your English vocabulary.

What Will You Gain?

  • learn English words for woodworking tools, materials, and processes
  • practice listening and speaking by talking about woodworking techniques and asking questions.
  • know how to use safety equipment and understand emergency procedures in English.
  • understand safety rules in woodworking, using English to talk about them.
  • understand simple woodworking plans and use English to discuss project details.

Course Prerequisite Conditions

This course is suitable for ESOL students Pre-intermediate level and above, due to the necessity of understanding and complying with safety requirements. 

Course Fee Subsidy

This course is subsided by the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) for NZ citizens and permanent migrant adults, their partners on work visas or visitor visas, and refugees. To qualify, registrants should be over the age of 16 years and not currently enrolled in a secondary school. You must provide evidence of NZ citizenship, residency, or refugee status to our staff for sighting purposes.

The tuition fee is free for NZ Residents / Citizens / Partnership Visa of NZ Residents or Citizens. (A $40 administration fee applies)

The tuition fee is $100 for Work Visa holders or $175 for Non-Residents.

Please note: All courses need a minimum number to go ahead. If your course does not have enough enrolments, we regret that we will have to cancel and will let you know either by email or text. Courses are usually cancelled, when necessary, 2-3 working days prior to the scheduled start date.
