Course Description

Are you baffled by all the paperwork and accounting involved for a small business?

Come along and gain insight to the know-how required to set up and run a small business more successfully.

What Will You Gain?

Basic knowledge in:

  • The basics of choosing the right business structure
  • An understanding of basic accounting principles
  • The set-up and operation of a Cash-book to record income, expenditure and GST
  • Preparation of Bank Reconciliation
  • Preparation of the Profit & Loss Statement and Balance Sheet
  • Prior accounting knowledge would be helpful, but it is not a prerequisite.
  • How the Double Entry bookkeeping system works
  • Preparing basic journals using Debits and Credits

Course Fee Subsidy

This course is subsided by the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) for NZ citizens and permanent migrant adults, their partners on work visas or visitor visas, and refugees. To qualify, registrants should be over the age of 16 years and not currently enrolled in a secondary school. You must provide evidence of NZ citizenship, residency, or refugee status to our staff for sighting purposes.

For Non-Resident students, there will be a surcharge of NZD$20.

Please note: All courses need a minimum number of enrolments to proceed. If your course does not have enough enrolments, we regret that we will have to cancel it and will let you know either by email or text. Courses are usually cancelled, when necessary, 2-3 working days prior to the scheduled start date.
