Summer pruning is mainly for those plants like citrus and stone fruit where pests or high humidity can be a problem. It also helps with encouraging fruit production in most mature trees. How to make pruning cuts with hands-on practice under supervision will give you the confidence to prune your own trees.

The course is held offsite at Triangle Park Teaching Garden, 385 Don Buck Rd, Massey, Auckland 0614. It is beside the Community Centre.

Please bring a pair of secateurs and loppers if you have them. A pruning saw is also useful. Gloves and eye protection help with safety.
