If you are keen to explore your creative side with wood and pick up a skill that is generations old, then this beginner's course is just for you. In this introduction to the craft of woodturning you will learn about the tools and techniques involved to turn and finish your very own small item to take home and treasure. Brij will teach you about preparation, mounting , shaping and finishing. All material included.
Please note: No loose fitting clothes or jewellery to be worn, long hair must be tied back and covered shoes are required in the workshop.
90% of the course involves standing in small spaces and unfortunately, at the moment there are no facilities to accommodate wheelchairs at the lathes
Course Fee Subsidy
This course is subsided by Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) for NZ citizens and permanent migrant adults, their partners on work visas or visitor visas, and refugees. To qualify, registrants should be over the age of 16 years and not currently enrolled in a secondary school. You must provide evidence of NZ citizenship, residency, or refugee status to our staff for sighting purposes.
For Non- Resident students there will be a surcharge of NZD$20.
Please note: All courses need a minimum number to go ahead. If your course does not have enough enrolments, we regret that we will have to cancel and will let you know either by email or text. Courses are usually cancelled, when necessary, 2-3 working days prior to the scheduled start date.
