Improve your mathematical skills and work towards gaining the 14 Numeracy credits required for entry to a Tertiary Institute. Unit standards covered are based on the mathematical skills needed for everyday living and internal assessments can be completed during class time. NCEA Unit Standards (optional) by internal assessment during class. Please bring a calculator and a copy of your record of learning if you already have one.

It is expected that students should complete one standard per term if they follow a work-plan and complete assigned homework as required. We cannot guarantee student results, it is up to the student to achieve their results. Students requiring more than one standard should be prepared to attend more than one term.

On successful completion of the course, please allow for 10-15 working day before your results are processed. 

Students must be 16 years or older to be eligible to attend the course.

 

You will need a minimum of 10 literacy credits and 10 numeracy credits to achieve each level of NCEA. You only need to gain these credits once. This means that once you have gained the credits, you have already met the literacy and numeracy requirements for NCEA Levels 1, 2 and 3.

University Entrance (UE) is the minimum requirement to attend a New Zealand university. To qualify for UE, you will need all of the following:

• NCEA Level 3  - 14 credits in each of three approved subjects at Level 3.

• UE Literacy – 10 credits at Level 2 or above, made up of:

  • – 5 credits in reading
  • – 5 credits in writing.

• UE Numeracy – 10 credits at Level 1 or above

Course Fee Subsidy

This course is subsided by Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) for NZ citizens and permanent migrant adults, their partners on work visas or visitor visas, and refugees. To qualify, registrants should be over the age of 16 years and not currently enrolled in a secondary school. You must provide evidence of NZ citizenship, residency, or refugee status to our staff for sighting purposes.

For Non- Resident students there will be a surcharge of NZD$20.

 

 

 

Please note: All courses need a minimum number to go ahead. If your course does not have enough enrolments, we regret that we will have to cancel and will let you know either by email or text. Courses are usually cancelled, when necessary, 2-3 working days prior to the scheduled start date.

Course Prerequisites

Students must be aged 16 years or older and not be enrolled in secondary school full-time.In exceptional circumstances a full time secondary school student aged 16 years or older, may be enrolled in an adult and Community Education (ACE) course/activity outside normal school hours with written approval from their school principal or Dean and the course Director.
